The authors of this study investigated the effects of the neuropeptide PACAP on two melanoma cell lines to examine its role in the transformation of neural crest derived melanocytes into melanoma. The CytoSMART Lux2 was used the monitor the motility of primary melanocytes and melanoma cells. PACAP treatment decreased the migration distance, as well as the proliferation capacity in both cultures. The results suggest that PACAP signaling should be further investigated to examine its role in inhibiting melanoma progression.
