In this publication, the authors utilized CytoSMART Lux3FL fluorescence imager to track the migration of cells from astroglial primary cultures derived from wild-type mice and from triple-transgenic Alzheimer’s disease mice. These cell cultures were treated with the angiotensin receptor blocker, losartan, to study its effect on astrocyte motility. Live-cell imaging revealed that the motility and velocity of losartan-treated cells were greater when compared to the non-treated controls. Overall, these results suggest that losartan positively affects the migrational capacity of astrocytes affected by amyloid beta.
