In this study, the authors of this study aimed to investigate whether autoimmune regulator (AIRE) gene influences the adhesion between medullary thymic epithelial cells (mTECs) during the in vitro formation of a 3D spheroid construct. The CytoSMART Lux2 was used to observe the formation and growth of the spheroids. All in all, the results suggest that when cells begin to form spheroids, AIRE influences the 3D constructs of mTECs by controlling the cell adhesion genes.
